Sweet and Sour Chicken Ingredients

For chicken:

  4. Brown sugar 1 tablespoon

Cooking chicken in sweet and sour sauce:

Step 1: prepare the chicken fillet.

We take the right amount of chicken, wash it under cold running water and dry it with paper kitchen towels. Then we put on a cutting board, cleaned of film and cartilage. After that, we cut the chicken meat into pieces from 2 to 3 centimeters in size and leave the cut on the board. Then we put egg white, salt and potato starch in a deep bowl.

Lightly beat these products with a table fork until a homogeneous consistency and spread the chicken in a bowl.

Mix the meat with the resulting mixture and leave it in this form on 15 to 20 minutes or until use.

Step 2: prepare the vegetables.

In the meantime, we prepare the rest of the products that will be needed to prepare the dish, and we start with onions - we peel it. Then we cut off at lettuce peppers the place on which the peduncle was attached, and gutted them from the seeds.
We wash the vegetables under cold water, dry with paper towels, put on a cutting board, cut into medium cubes from 1 to 1.5 centimeters in size and leave the slices on the board.
Using the key for canned food, open a jar of pineapples and proceed to the next step.

Step 3: prepare sweet and sour sauce.

Using a measuring cup, pour white wine vinegar and juice from canned pineapples into a clean deep bowl. We put brown sugar and ketchup there.

Mix with a table fork into the components of the sauce until a homogeneous consistency.

Step 4: Fry Chicken Meat.

Then we put the pan on medium heat and pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into it. In a few minutes put chicken into the preheated butter.

Fry the meat on both sides, periodically turning it from side to side with a kitchen spatula or tongs.

At this stage of cooking, it is not necessary to bring the chicken to full readiness. If the pieces remain slightly pink inside - do not worry! The meat comes to readiness with vegetables and sauce a little later. Put the fried chicken on a plate.

Step 5: fry and stew vegetables.

We do not remove the pan from the stove, pour a tablespoon of vegetable oil into it and pour the chopped onion with sweet pepper. Stew vegetables until transparent, stirring occasionally. We give this process no more three minutes.

Step 6: bring the dish to full readiness.

Then add the pineapple pieces to the pan, pour the cooked sweet and sour sauce and bring the liquid to a boil.

After that, put in the aromatic fruit and vegetable mixture fried chicken pieces.

Mix the products until smooth. Next, set the temperature of the fire to a level between small and medium.

Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the chicken in sweet and sour sauce 10 - 15 minutes. After that, turn off the stove, insist the dish under the lid 5 - 7 minutes, put it in portions on plates and serve.

Step 7: serve the chicken in sweet and sour sauce.

Sweet and sour chicken is a very rich dish. It should be combined with a side dish, for example: boiled cereals, rice, mashed vegetables, salads. Very often, before serving, each serving of this dish is sprinkled with chopped parmesan cheese or fried sesame seeds. Enjoy it!

Recipe Tips:

- If you are not a fan of pineapples, then you can not put them. Pineapple juice can be replaced with lemon and orange juices by mixing them 1: 1.

- Potato starch can be replaced with corn starch.

- In a starch-egg mixture, instead of salt, you can add a tablespoon of soy sauce.
