Cooking Waka Balish:

Step 1: Cook the dough.

The first thing we need is very fast, so as not to let the butter melt, mix the dough. You can do this with kitchen appliances or with your hands if you want to train your biceps. And in that, and in another case, you just need to mix all these ingredients together, mold a homogeneous smooth mass from them, cover the finished dough with a film and place it in the refrigerator while you are preparing the filling.

Step 2: Cook the onion.

Rinse the potatoes, peel them and cut into small cubes. Bulbs also need to be peeled, washed and chopped.
Mix vegetables and meat in one plate, add salt and ground pepper (both red and black) to taste. Stir well so that all the ingredients come together.

Add water at the end, it is needed so that the filling is juicy, and mix again. Mix everything again until smooth, so that both meat and vegetables combine with water.

Step 3: Form a Vac Balash.

When the filling is ready, return to the test. It must be divided into equal pieces and rolled out each of the parts into a flat and thin cake, with a diameter 16-17 centimeters.
Lay in the center of the dough cakes about 1 tablespoon toppings.

Now, with your fingers, collect the edges of the tortillas in the center, holding them together.

In the center you should have a hole. Walk your fingers around the edge again to make sure that you are all firmly stuck.

Step 4: Bake the Wak Balash.

Transfer your workpieces to a baking sheet covered with parchment and set the oven to heat until 180 degrees.
Bake your pies until golden brown, the dough will become crispy, and the filling is juicy. It usually takes about 45-50 minutes.

At first, the filling will seem too liquid, but everything is fine, over time the water will evaporate, and the minced meat with vegetables will become as it should.

Serve the finished baking hot, but even after cooling, the vak balish does not lose its appetite.

Step 5: Serve the Wak Balish.

By tradition, a vak balish is served with broth or sour cream, but this pastry will also be good with a salad of fresh herbs and vegetables. In addition, it is perfectly stored, so the next day you can enjoy delicious Tatar pies with meat and potatoes.
Enjoy your meal!

Recipe Tips:

- Instead of minced meat, you can use chopped meat, especially if you cook it yourself.

- If you knead the dough with your hands, then cold butter will be easier to grate on a coarse grater.
