Ingredients for making puff pastry cheese sticks.

Preparation of cheese sticks from puff pastry:
Step 1: Prepare the cheese.
Cheese can be used of any brand and grade, the main thing is that you like it to your liking. So, on a grater with large holes, we rub the cheese in a plate or on a cutting board.
Step 2: Prepare the dough.
We take out the thawed dough from the packaging. Sprinkle a flat surface with a small amount of flour and put on it the first sheet (in packages of 500 grams there are usually two). Using a rolling pin, we roll it into a layer with dimensions of about 25 by 30 cm.
We wash the egg under hot running water, break it into a cup or other convenient container and beat with a fork until smooth. Then add salt, black pepper and whisk again.
Now with a special kitchen brush, grease the test layer with the egg, sprinkle with half the cheese, gently crush it into the dough (you can use a rolling pin, but not much) and cut the layer with a sharp knife into long narrow strips with a width of about 1.5 cm.
We do the same with the second test layer.
Step 3: Form the dish.
We cover the baking tray with baking paper, carefully twist each strip and transfer to the baking sheet. Spinning the strips is not necessary, but the dish at the end will turn out to be more beautiful and mouth-watering. The dough during baking will slightly increase in size, so we put strips at a small distance from each other.
Step 4: Bake the cheese sticks.
Bake the dish for 15 minutes at a temperature 190 degrees. Then turn each cheese stick on the other side and bake more 2 - 3 minutes until a beautiful golden crust is formed.
We take out the baking tray with the prepared cheese sticks from the oven and leave to cool.
Step 5: Serve the puff pastry cheese sticks.
The dish is served in a warm form for an appetizer to the festive table or as a tasty addition to tender mashed soups, as well as cheese sticks, it is pleasant to relish with light alcoholic drinks.

- Together with black pepper you can use other aromatic spices, such as rosemary or thyme.
- Cheese sticks are even tastier if you add a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of tomato sauce to a beaten egg.
- It is not necessary to use one kind of cheese, you can combine several to your own taste.
